Bananaball added eight different rules to the sport. Let’s check them out!
Rule #1. Every Inning Counts. To get a point you need to win the inning by getting more runs than the other team. But in the last inning of Bananaball every run counts as a point.
Rule #2. Two Hour Time Limit. After two hours the game ends and whoever has more points wins. If the match is tied at the end it’s The Ultimate Showdown: pitcher vs. batter with just one fielder. The pitcher and the fielder must stop the batter before he can score a run.
Rule #3. No bunting. It sucks. I hate bunting and so do the Bananas.
Rule #4. Batters Can Steal First. If a pitcher throws a wild pitch, the batter can attempt to run to first base regardless of the count.
Rule #5. No Walks. Instead of walks it’s sprints. At ball four, the runner can advance as many bases as he wants, and cannot be tagged out until every defensive player has touched the ball.
Rule #6. No Stepping Out. If you step out of the batter’s box it’s a strike. Just stay in the box, it’s not that hard.
Rule #7. No Mound Visits. They delay the game and they’re professionals so they should know what they’re doing.
Rule #8. Let The Fans Play. If you’ve ever had a dream of playing, now you can! If a fan in the audience catches a foul ball, it’s an out!
The Banana’s mascot is Split, a buff banana with sunglasses.
The Banana’s rivals are The Party Animals.
Other teams are The Firefighters, and The Visitors.
In 2023, Jocelyn Alo became the first woman Bananaball player getting an at bat in one of their games.
As of June 2024, The Savannah Bananas have over eight million followers on TikTok, more than any MLB team!
