The Grimace Era Ends After Mets Lose To Rangers
If I traveled back in time and told you “You know the purple guy from McDonalds, Grimace? Yeah, he’s now a baseball superstition.” What would you think? The New York Mets were on a seven-day winning streak ever since Grimace threw the first pitch at a New York Mets game against the Miami Marlins on June 12th (also Grimace’s Birthday). This wacky superstitious coincidence has been called “The Grimace Era” or “Grimacemania” by fans. Some people called the team “The Gay Grimace Mets” because The New York Mets changed their logo to a pride flag for Pride Month. The official McDonald’s Twitter account changed their profile picture to Grimace wearing a Mets cap, and their description became “mets go let’s” and they posted tweets saying “mee watching gamee 6 tonighttr. @Mets” and “I had a balll today lollll.” The New York Mets on Instagram posted a picture of Grimace holding a sign saying “I’m still watching 5-0.” On June 19, 2024 in a New York Mets game against The Texas Rangers, ...
